Agona West Zoomlion Directorate fumigates dumping sites amidst water crisis

The Agona West Municipal Directorate of Zoomlion Ghana Limited has fumigated dumping sites to prevent disease outbreaks amid a water crisis affecting Agona West, Agona East, and Gomoa Central Districts, ensuring improved sanitation and public health.

The exercise, according to management, formed part of proactive health and sanitation measures to safeguard residents from possible infections as water shortages heighten hygiene challenges in the area.

Mr. Christian Ocran, Director in charge of Agona West, Gomoa Central, and Agona East Districts, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after the exercise that the intervention was necessary to avert potential health threats during the crisis.

“Any health-related implications to residents during this period must be nipped in the bud,” Mr. Ocran said, adding that the company remained committed to its corporate social responsibility of protecting public health.

He said Zoomlion Ghana Limited was working closely with the three administrative districts to promote a clean and healthy environment and had recently received new vehicles to augment its fleet and enhance sanitation operations.

Mr. Ocran also cautioned residents against indiscriminate dumping of refuse on streets, in gutters, and other unauthorised areas, urging them to support efforts to keep their surroundings clean and prevent disease outbreaks.
