Nutrifoods Ghana Limited has resumed production and distribution of its Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix, following a thorough evaluation by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), which has reaffirmed safety, quality, and compliance.
In August, Nutrifoods, under the guidance of the FDA, issued a precautionary product recall for certain select batches of the product that did not fully meet its high standards.
The company said the recall underscored its commitment to consumer safety and readiness to act decisively when concerns arise.
“This responsible measure reflected our deep commitment to our consumers and our readiness to act decisively to preserve the safety and quality of our products,” it said.
Following the recall, Nutrifoods worked closely with the FDA in a comprehensive review that examined its factory operations.
As part of the process, the company strengthened its quality assurance systems, including enhanced process controls and extended incubation protocols.
“This review reaffirmed that our production systems and products are fully compliant with the highest standards and regulatory requirements,” the company said in a statement.
FDA, in its letter of clearance, said it would continue to monitor Nutrifood’s production activities per the agreed protocol, including a 15 to 21-days incubation period for all product batches and periodic sampling and testing of starting materials and finished products.
Nutrifoods also apologised to consumers for any inconvenience caused and expressed gratitude for their continued trust.
Nutrifoods Ghana is a joint venture between Olam International and Sanyo Foods.
