Schools in Nkwanta South, including Nkwanta Community Day Senior High Technical School and Nkwanta Senior High School (NKWANSEC), are facing a significant challenge in attracting newly admitted students.
As of October 20, 2025, the situation remains dire with only four freshmen reporting to Nkwanta Community Day Senior High Technical despite having 400 vacancies and being allocated 190 students, only 60 students accepted the admission offer.
NKWANSEC is also affected with only eight fresh SHS students reported, and this attributed to the ongoing tribal disturbances in the area.
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) has picked up an intel from the community who raised concerns about safety and reputation over shootings and killing of innocent souls, deterring new students from enrolling.
Some teachers who spoke to GNA on condition of anonymity, assured that the administrations were working tirelessly to restore confidence and ensure a secure learning environment.
The teachers appealed to parents to bring their wards to schools, emphasizing that the area is now peaceful and conducive for learning.
