Mr. Bismarck Adu, the Atebubu/Amantin Municipal Manager of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), has advised people who have not registered to do so to benefit the numerous health benefits of the scheme.
He said the implementation of the scheme had been strengthened to position the nation to achieve Universal Health Coverage and advised everybody to register with the scheme.
Mr. Adu gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of a street procession the scheme held at Atebubu, and entreated those whose membership cards had expired to renew them as well.
He explained that the procession aligned with the implementation of the “NHIS Market Storm” project aimed at intensifying public awareness creation and inspiring more people to register to join the scheme.
Mr. Adu said the scheme remained committed to ensuring that everybody had the health insurance identification card to access quality healthcare services in the municipality.
Besides, he said the project also sought to facilitate registration of new members, as well as free registration of school children and the vulnerable people in the area, concentrating more on people in rural communities.
Mr..Adu said the scheme had set up a mobile registration team that would undertake outreaches and register people in the deprived communities.
