The Amen and Amen Institute, a non-governmental organisation, has donated GH¢10,000 to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in support of the celebration of the 2025 World Food Programme (WFP).
The World Food Day, celebrated annually on 16 October, serves as a global platform to spotlight collective actions and progress in building sustainable food systems.
The global theme for this year’s celebration is: “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future.”
Presenting the cash to the Ministry on behalf of Amen Amenreynolds Amen, the Founder and Leader of the Amen Amen Institute, Mr Daniel Reynolds, a Member of the Institute, reinforced the institute’s long-standing commitment to promoting food security initiatives.
“Amen and Amen Institute has been in partnership with the United Nations for the annual celebration of WFP over the years,” he emphasised.
Mr Reynolds called on the youth to take farming more seriously to help the nation achieve lasting food security.
“We encourage, especially the youth, who can help MoFA to promote food security for the nation to go into very serious farming,” he emphasized,
He also commended government authorities for their role in safeguarding Ghana’s prosperity.
Mr Bright Demordzi, the National Coordinator of the Feed Ghana Programme, who received the donation on behalf of the Ministry, expressed appreciation to the Institute for its continued support and commitment to promoting food security.
He described the support as timely, which would complement government’s flagship Feed Ghana Programme aimed at strengthening food security.
Mr Demordzi also noted that this year’s theme highlighted the urgency of collaboration, urging all partners to work together to improve the food security of the country.
“It is telling us that we need to work hand-in-hand for better foods and for a better future. What the government of Ghana is doing is in tandem with the vision of the World Food Programme,” he said.
He pledged effective utilisation of the funds to ensure a successful celebration.
