The Department of Human Resources and Management of the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (ERCC) has organised its maiden Retirees’ Appreciation Day and Employee of the Quarter Award ceremony in the regional capital, Koforidua.
The event honoured seven ERCC officers with citations, cash prizes, and fridges in recognition of their service and dedication.
Mr. Yaw Adu-Asamoah, Chief Director of the ERCC, speaking on behalf of Mrs. Akosua Adjei Awatey, Eastern Regional Minister, said the Retirees’ Appreciation Day was instituted to acknowledge the meritorious service of retired workers, while the Employee of the Quarter Award recognised exceptional punctuality, commitment, reliability, and discipline.
He commended Mr. Cyril Dzinyanu Xatse, Eastern Regional Head of Human Resources, for initiating the programme and praised his professionalism, dedication, loyalty, and empathy.
Mr. Adu-Asamoah added that additional criteria would be introduced to identify the Overall Best Worker.
Of the seven honourees, one is still in active service while six are retirees.
Mr. Joseph K. Ansah, Messenger at ERCC, received the Timeliness Employee of the Quarter Award and was presented with a citation and cash prize.
The retirees honoured with citations, cash prizes, and freezers included: Ms. Rebecca B. Afoakwa, former Labourer; Mrs. Salomey Quarshie, former Chief Catering Officer; Mr. Yaw Okyere, former Chief Messenger ; Mr. Isaac Asare, retired Chief Messenger; Mr. Elvis Ofori, former Chief Executive Officer / Acting Protocol Officer; and Mr. Emmanuel Nana Baffour Appiah, former Senior Internal Auditor / Chief Local Government Inspector
Mr. Xatse noted that the initiative fostered a positive work culture, enhanced the organisation’s reputation, and expressed appreciation for the dedication of both current employees and retirees.
