Customers of the Ghana Water Limited (GWL) in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Region owe the company outstanding bills exceeding GH₵10 million, Mr. Theophilus Collins, the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regional Chief Manager of the GWL has said.
However, he said GWL was undertaking a recovery exercise to retrieve the arrears, explaining that the exercise expected to end by the close of the year.
Speaking at a forum to mark the 2025 Customer Service Week celebration of the GWL, in Sunyani on the theme, “Mission Possible: Together We Serve, Together We Thrive”, Mr. Collins said customers who failed to pay their bills would be disconnected.
He said though the company remained committed to ensuring customer satisfaction, innovation, and accountability, those who failed to pay their water bills would also be denied water supply to their homes and workplaces.
Mr. Collins said GWL would continue investing in infrastructure, digital solutions and customer engagement to improve reliability and accessibility of water services and called teamwork, empathy and excellence among its personnel.
Mr Patrick Antwi, the Bono Regional Manager of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), lauded the GWL’s service delivery, saying that customer complaints against the company had been relatively low.
Only that most of the complaints are related to water flow issues which are not always the direct fault of the service provider, he explained.
Mr. Antwi praised GWL for adopting and improving the electronic transaction and paperless billing systems, saying that were impressive steps toward modern utility service provision.
He urged the personnel of the company to cherish and pick customer feedback seriously, worrying that, “often utility service providers regard feedback as trivial, but for the consumers, it isn’t when they are experiencing challenges.
