Mr Daniel Konka, the Dormaa Central Municipal Director of Health, has called for support to improve healthcare service delivery at the Antwirifo Health Centre in the Bono Region.
He said the facility required modern medical devices and equipment, and urged especially the natives of the area, home and abroad, to come to their aid.
Mr Konka made the call when Mr John Kwame Adu Jack, the Member of Parliament for Dormaa Central Constituency, performed a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a-30 bed capacity ward for the health facility at Antwirifo, a farming community.
He explained that the government alone could not shoulder the responsibility of meeting the health infrastructure needs of the facility, saying, as the only health centre, the facility served surrounding communities including Ivorian nationals due to the area’s proximity to Cote D’Ivoire.
Mr Konka noted that presently some of the patients on admission slept at the Out-Patient Department (OPD) due to inadequate wards and commended the MP for the project.
He said physical health infrastructure, personnel and modern medical equipment remained essential ingredients for effective healthcare delivery and management.
On his part, Mr Jack expressed concern about the use of obsolete machines and beds at the health centre, and commended the health personnel for their commitment to duty, and sacrificial work.
He said construction work on the project, being executed by the Datwu Enterprise, was expected to be completed in 24 months.
Baffour Takyi Ababio III, the Chief of Antwirifo, called for effective collaboration between the government and traditional authorities towards progressive and sustainable national development.
He also called for the expansion of the health centre to tackle the health demand needs of the growing population.
Baffour Ababio III appealed for support towards the completion of the construction of his new palace, which had reached roofing level and expressed appreciation to the MP and the Municipal Assembly for the project.
